TidyCal is famous for cheap lifetime deals. Calenix bundles booking with landing pages, digital cards and email signatures. We compare total value for freelancers, not just the sticker price.

Quick answer

TidyCal offers outstanding value if you want a low-cost booking tool and nothing more: its lifetime plans are a small one-off payment and its free plan allows unlimited bookings. Calenix offers more value if you want scheduling bundled with a landing page, service pages, a digital business card, an email signature and a link-in-bio page, so you can replace several freelance tools with one.

In short, judge value by the number of tools you can retire, not only by the sticker price.

What each tool is built for

TidyCal is a booking tool sold through AppSumo. It is known for affordable lifetime deals and covers the essentials freelancers need: booking types, calendar connections, Stripe and PayPal payments, group bookings on paid tiers and package and recurring bookings on every plan. It is designed for solo users and freelancers working to a budget.

Calenix is a scheduling and professional-presence workspace. It includes booking pages, event types, reminders, date polls and paid bookings, plus landing pages, service pages, digital business cards, email signatures, LinkDock and business-card scanning. For a freelancer, that means the place clients book you can also be the place they learn about your services and save your details.

Lifetime deal or subscription?

TidyCal's headline appeal is its lifetime pricing. At the time of writing, Individual Lifetime is $29 one-time through AppSumo and Agency Lifetime is $79 one-time. There is also a Pro subscription at $12 a month or $99 a year, which removes the platform fee and branding and adds a custom domain.

Calenix's standard model is subscription-based, with a free plan and paid plans from A$12 a month billed annually. At the time of writing, Calenix is also running a limited founder lifetime offer, with one-off tiers starting at A$110. It is capped at a fixed number of licences and is not Calenix's standard pricing, so treat it as a launch campaign that may close rather than a permanent option.

Lifetime deals can be excellent value, but check what is included for life, whether add-ons such as SMS have usage limits and which features need a separate subscription.

Counting the true cost for a freelancer

A Melbourne copywriter might pay for a booking tool, a link-in-bio service, a simple website builder and an email signature generator. Each may be cheap, but together they add up and the branding rarely matches.

If you only need bookings, TidyCal is very hard to beat on price. If you are also paying for a link page, a landing page builder or a digital card app, Calenix may cost less overall because those tools are included. Our scheduling guide for freelancers covers how to protect focus time and decide what clients should be able to book.

Payments and paid sessions

Both tools let you charge for appointments. TidyCal supports Stripe and PayPal, with a 1% platform fee on plans other than Pro. Calenix supports paid bookings and deposits on paid plans, with Stripe listed on its integrations page.

Deposits are useful for freelancers whose time is often lost to late cancellations, such as a photographer holding a weekend slot. Whichever tool you choose, make your cancellation policy visible before a client pays.

Branding and how clients see you

For freelancers, a booking page is often a client's first proper look at how you work. TidyCal's free plan carries TidyCal branding, the lifetime plans reduce it, and Pro removes it and adds a custom domain. Calenix's free plan includes Calenix branding, while the Individual plan lets you remove it, apply custom branding and connect one branded domain.

Branding matters most when the booking page is part of a wider journey. A Sydney brand designer, for example, might send prospects from an Instagram profile to a link-in-bio page, then to a service page describing a brand audit, then to a paid booking. With Calenix, every step of that journey can carry the same logo and colours. With TidyCal, the booking step is polished, but the surrounding pages would come from other tools.

Group sessions are another consideration. TidyCal includes group bookings on its paid tiers, and its Agency Lifetime plan adds round robin and collective meetings. Calenix offers group meetings on paid plans and date polls on every plan, which help when you need to find a time that works for several client stakeholders.

Where TidyCal is the stronger choice

TidyCal is the stronger choice for freelancers who want the lowest possible cost for a capable booking tool, need 10 connected calendars on a lifetime plan, or want package and recurring bookings on every plan. If your clients are in the US or Canada and SMS reminders matter, its higher tiers include them.

Where Calenix is the stronger choice

Calenix is the stronger choice when you want to present your services professionally as well as take bookings. Service pages, a landing page, a digital card and an email signature all point clients to the same booking flow. Adding a booking link to your signature is one of the simplest ways to win meetings; our guide to using an email signature booking link explains how.
