Calenix vs Reservio: Which Booking Platform Is Better for Small Business Owners?

Reservio offers booking-capped plans, a point-of-sale feature and memberships, though its payments feature is limited to Europe. Calenix pairs unlimited 1-to-1 bookings and Stripe payments with cards and signatures. We compare them for small business owners.

Reservio is a solid all-round booking system for European small businesses such as salons, clinics, gyms and studios, with a free plan, booking caps that rise with each paid tier, and a point-of-sale feature. Calenix suits small business owners who sell their time as sessions, especially outside Europe, and who want booking pages, Stripe payments, digital cards and email signatures under one login.

If you are in Australia and need to take online payments at the time of booking, check Reservio's payment availability carefully before you commit. Its help centre says its payments feature is currently available only in European countries.

What each tool is built for

Reservio is an online booking platform headquartered in Brno, Czech Republic. It lists a calendar, online booking, a point-of-sale feature, SMS and email reminders, staff shifts and holidays, a branded app, a booking widget and support for events and classes. Reservio names hair salons, barbershops, gyms, medical clinics, consultations, yoga studios and teachers among the businesses it serves.

Calenix is a scheduling and professional presence platform. Alongside booking pages and event types, it includes service pages, landing pages, digital business cards, a LinkDock link page, email signatures and business-card scanning. It is aimed at individuals and teams who want one place for how clients find them, book them and stay in touch.

Based on each vendor's official pages at the time of writing (October 2026):

Where you are based changes the answer

For many small businesses, location matters more than any single feature. Reservio's help centre lists the countries where online payments are available. The list covers European countries, including the United Kingdom, and states there is no confirmed timeline for availability outside Europe.

That makes a real difference to an Australian business. Say a Perth massage therapist wants clients to pay a deposit when they book online. On Reservio, that payment step is not currently available to them, so they would need another way to collect it. Calenix takes paid bookings and deposits through Stripe from its Individual plan, so the payment sits inside the booking itself.

Reservio's marketplace, where customers can discover businesses, is also limited. Its help centre says it operates in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. A UK or Australian business should not count on marketplace discovery as part of the package. For a wider view of what Australian clients expect from online booking, see our guide to online appointment booking in Australia.

Booking caps versus feature tiers

The two products price their plans in different ways. Reservio's plans are partly defined by how many bookings you take every 30 days: 40 on Free, 200 on Starter, 500 on Standard and unlimited on Pro. Each step also adds features, such as calendar sync and SMS reminders on Starter, passes and memberships on Standard, and branding removal on Pro.

Calenix does not use booking volume to separate its plans. Its pricing table lists unlimited 1-to-1 bookings on Free, Individual and Professionals. Plans differ by tools instead: more calendars, unlimited event types, paid bookings, custom branding and group meetings on Individual, then team scheduling, round robin and collective meetings on Professionals.

Neither model is wrong. A busy salon with predictable volume may find a booking-capped plan easy to budget for. A consultant whose bookings vary from month to month may prefer not to think about allowances at all. Before choosing, count your bookings over a typical month and a busy one, then see which plan each tool would place you on.

Running the front desk versus building a presence

Reservio leans towards the day-to-day running of a premises. A point-of-sale feature, staff shifts and holidays, passes and memberships, and a branded app are the kinds of tools a studio or clinic with a reception desk uses every day.

Calenix leans towards how a professional is found and remembered. A UK bookkeeper, for example, might share a digital business card at a networking breakfast, add a booking link to an email signature and publish a service page explaining a fixed-fee onboarding call. All of those connect to the same booking calendar, with reminders and Stripe payments where needed.

Think about where your next client usually comes from. If it is walk-ins and regulars at your venue, Reservio's operational tools may matter more. If it is referrals, events, LinkedIn and email, Calenix's presence tools may do more of the work.

A short checklist before you decide

  • Check whether online payments work in your country on each platform.
  • Estimate your monthly bookings and compare them with any plan limits.
  • Decide whether you need SMS reminders, and how you would pay for them.
  • List the calendars you use and confirm each tool syncs with them on your plan.
  • Run a full test booking on your phone, including any payment step.

Our guide on how to choose scheduling software for a small business walks through these checks in more detail.

Calenix or Reservio: which should you choose?

Where Reservio is the stronger choice

Reservio is the better fit for European businesses, including those in the UK, that run a venue and want booking, a point-of-sale feature, staff shifts, passes and memberships, and native mobile apps in one system. Its SMS reminders and booking-capped plans make it straightforward for salons, gyms and clinics with steady volume.

Where Calenix is the stronger choice

Calenix is the better fit for consultants, coaches, therapists and other session-based professionals, particularly in Australia, who want Stripe payments inside the booking, unlimited 1-to-1 bookings and a professional presence built around their calendar. As a newer platform, it does not currently list SMS reminders, point-of-sale tools or native mobile apps, so weigh those if they matter to you.
