Covve (formerly marketed as Covve Scan) is a focused business card scanner with unlimited scanning on paid plans and 60+ recognition languages. Calenix includes scanning in a free scheduling workspace. Here is which keeps contact management simpler.

Quick answer

Covve is a strong pick if you want a dedicated scanner with unlimited card and QR scanning, recognition in 60+ languages and a straightforward per-seat price. Calenix is simpler if you would rather not add another subscription: its free plan includes 10 scans a month, and contacts live alongside your booking page, digital business card and email signature.

Heavy scanners and multilingual event teams will appreciate Covve. Professionals who scan occasionally and mainly want to follow up with a meeting may find Calenix enough.

What each tool is built for

Covve is a business card scanner. You may know it as Covve Scan; that name still appears in places such as App Store purchase names, but the product is now branded simply as Covve. Its Essential plan focuses on scanning and exporting contacts, while Pro and Enterprise add event badge scanning, a web portal, analytics, branded digital business cards and CRM integrations (an add-on on Pro, included on Enterprise).

Calenix is a scheduling and professional presence platform with a built-in AI card scanner. Scanned contacts can be tagged, annotated and given follow-up reminders, then sent a booking link, a digital business card or a LinkDock page from the same account.

What "simple" means in practice

Simplicity is personal, so it helps to picture who is using the tool.

The occasional networker

Say a Brisbane financial planner attends one or two industry events a month and comes home with a handful of cards. Ten free scans a month in Calenix may be enough, and the planner can tag each contact, set a reminder and send a booking link without opening another app. Paying for unlimited scanning would be paying for capacity they do not use.

The frequent traveller

Now picture a UK export manager who meets distributors across Europe and Asia. Covve's 60+ recognition languages and unlimited scanning on paid plans make it the less fiddly option here. Calenix recognises cards in 30+ languages, which covers many markets but not as many as Covve lists.

The event team

A team staffing a conference stand needs badge scanning, shared reporting and a clean route into the CRM. Covve's Pro plan adds badge scanning, custom fields, a web portal and analytics, with native CRM integrations on Enterprise. Calenix does not currently list badge scanning.

Keeping contacts useful after the scan

Scanning is the easy part. The harder part is remembering who someone was and doing something about it. Both tools support offline scanning, and both let you export contacts. Calenix adds duplicate detection with merge suggestions, notes, tags, grouping by event and follow-up reminders, then gives you a booking page to send in your follow-up.

Covve offers custom branded digital business cards on its Pro plan, and also runs a separate digital business card app with a free version. In Calenix, a digital card is included from the Free plan, so the people you meet can save your details as easily as you saved theirs. If digital cards are new to you, our guide on what a digital business card is explains how they work.

If you meet people across regions, remember that the follow-up meeting needs to work in their time zone too. Our guide to scheduling meetings across time zones covers the common mistakes.

A quick way to test both

You do not need a week-long evaluation to choose a scanner. Gather ten real cards from your desk, including at least one with a busy design, one in another language if you receive them, and one with handwriting on the back.

  • Scan all ten with each tool and count how many fields you had to correct.
  • Export the contacts in the format you actually use, such as your phone contacts, Excel or your CRM.
  • Time how long it takes to tag a contact and send a follow-up message.
  • Check what happens when you scan the same card twice.

Covve's 14-day trial and Calenix's free plan both give you room to run this test before paying anything. The tool that leaves you with the fewest corrections and the fastest follow-up is usually the right one for you.

Pricing compared

Prices below come from each vendor's official pricing page at the time of writing (October 2026). Check current pricing before you decide.

Covve (USD per seat; VAT calculated at checkout where applicable)

  • Essential: US$12/seat/month or US$119/seat/year.
  • Pro: US$20/seat/month or US$199/seat/year; CRM integrations are an add-on.
  • Enterprise: custom pricing, with native CRM integrations, SSO, audit logs and an availability SLA.

Essential and Pro include a 14-day free trial. There is no free plan; Covve's pricing page says that after the trial you won't be able to scan additional cards, though you keep the contacts you have already captured.

Calenix (AUD)

  • Free: A$0, 10 scans a month, plus booking page, digital card, email signature and LinkDock.
  • Individual: A$12/month billed annually, or A$15 month to month, with 100 scans a month.
  • Professionals: from A$29/month billed annually, with a configurable scanning allowance.
  • Enterprise: custom quote.

Where Covve is the stronger choice

Covve is the better choice if scanning is a daily task. Unlimited scanning on paid plans, 60+ recognition languages, offline mode, exports to Outlook, Google and Zapier on Essential, and badge scanning and analytics on Pro make it a focused, capable tool. Covve also lists ISO 27001 and GDPR compliance, and its Enterprise plan adds SSO, audit logs and native integrations with HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho and Dynamics 365.

Where Calenix is the stronger choice

Calenix is the stronger choice if you scan a modest number of cards and want fewer tools. The free plan includes scanning, and every contact can move straight into a follow-up with a booking link, digital card or email signature from the same workspace. It is a newer platform with fewer listed CRM integrations and no badge scanning, so high-volume event teams should compare carefully.
